IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING THE H1N1 VIRUS AND SCHOOL:

Dear Parents and Guardians:

Like other school districts, we in Briggs School District are experiencing student absences due to flu like illness.

To minimize the spread of germs Briggs School District is following the Center for Disease Control's (CDC) guidelines for flu prevention which are to keep people who are sick with flu like symptoms home until they are fever free for 24 hours. At school, we are having students wash and sanitize their hands on a regular basis and cover their mouths when they cough. We are also following CDC guidelines for regular cleansing of areas that students and staff touch often.

If your child shows signs of flu like illness such as a fever of over 100, cough, muscle aches, nausea and/or vomiting please notify us at school and keep your child at home until fever free (without any fever lowering medications) for 24 hours. However, do not refrain from giving your child fever lowering medications during the course of an illness or seeking medical attention.

Masks will be used for students who may become sick at school and for office staff to help reduce exposure.

Thank you in advance for helping us with prevention efforts to keep our students healthy and learning.

Sincerely,

Ms. Cuevas
Superintendent

Vision and Mission Statement

Briggs Elementary School District is a community that nurtures academic excellence for all.  Our students are well-rounded citizens who are creative, responsible, productive members of an ever changing, and challenging global society.

Our mission is to create a safe and healthy learning community by embracing partnerships with our staff, students and families.  Together, we will foster mutual respect, character development, and academic growth with the goal of life-long learning.

From the Superintendent

I am excited to start this year as Superintendent in the Briggs School District. Having been a teacher, and principal at both sites I have always loved the small rural school setting and the teaching atmosphere it provides for the students in our community. The dedication of the parents, students and staff make this a great place to work!

I invite you to navigate through our web site. It has many resources for you to access information about our district, schools and your students. If you have any questions or concerns about your child's education please contact me so that we can work together to find a solution.

Thank you again for your commitment to your child's success in the Briggs School District!

Deborah E. Cuevas
Superintendent
